EconPlot is educational, not advice. Nothing on this site, in the email briefing, or in our videos is financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security or asset. We explain how numbers are measured and what they mean. What you do about them is your decision, and if it matters, take it with a professional who knows your circumstances.

About the figures we quote

We quote public data — among others the Federal Reserve Economic Data service, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Energy Information Administration, and company filings made to the Securities and Exchange Commission. Each figure is stated as of the date given. Economic data is routinely revised after publication, sometimes substantially, so a figure that was correct when published may differ from the same series today. We do not update past pieces when a series is revised; we date them instead.

We work hard to be accurate and we publish our sources so you can check us. We do not warrant that everything is free of error, and we are not liable for decisions taken on the basis of it.

How our content is produced

EconPlot videos are produced with an automated pipeline. Narration and some visuals are AI-generated, and each video discloses this in its description. Scripts are checked against automated editorial rules before publication and reviewed by a person before anything is released. Sources are recorded for every claim.

Sponsorship

Some content is sponsored. Sponsored content is always labelled as sponsored, in the content itself, in line with the Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides. A sponsor never sees editorial before publication, never approves it, and never has any influence over which numbers we report or how we describe them. Sponsors approve only their own copy.

The email briefing

The briefing is free. You can unsubscribe from any email in one click. We may change its frequency or format, or stop sending it.

Your use of this site

Our text, video and graphics are ours. You are welcome to quote or link to us with attribution; please do not republish whole pieces without asking. Do not attempt to disrupt the site or to submit other people's personal data to our forms.

Changes

We may update these terms; the date at the top will say when. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
